What They Could See
Pick a vantage point used during the battle and see roughly how far a soldier standing there could see toward the horizon, based on that location's real elevation.
⚠ This shows relative elevation, not a computed sightline. A genuine viewshed analysis needs full terrain elevation data (a digital elevation raster) plus real obstruction modeling for hills, woods, buildings, and smoke -- this deployment doesn't have access to that. Earlier drafts of this tool tried a distance-to-horizon formula based on elevation alone, but that produced 30+ mile "visibility" circles that are physically correct as pure earth-curvature math yet meaningless at this battlefield's actual ~5-mile scale, where nearby terrain -- not the curve of the earth -- is what actually blocked a soldier's view. So instead: below is each vantage point's real elevation, ranked against the other 29 mapped locations, so you can see genuine high-ground advantage without a fabricated distance claim.
